HOWES, David of Harriston – passed away at Louise Marshall Hospital, Mount Forest, on Monday, June 8, 2015 in his 86th year. David was the husband of Shirley (Geil) Howes and father of Rosanne Caron and Adir Gupta of Toronto, Paul Howes and Linda Saur, and James Howes, all of Harriston. Grandfather of David Caron and Janice Chan, Austin Howes and Benjamin Howes. Brother of Janet Hassan of Guelph and brother-in-law of Betty Howes of Belleville, Lois Geil of Huntsville, and Mildred and George Caldwell of Baton Rouge, LA. He was predeceased by his sons Philip Howes (1992), and Norman Howes (2009) and wife Ann Tangney-Howes, by his brother John Howes, and by brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Ralph Geil, Cyril Hassan, and Doris and Frank Zurbrigg. David was a nature lover and outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed birdwatching, making apple butter, fishing and skiing with his family. His sense of humour and story telling entertained family and friends. David lived life to its fullest and will be greatly missed by his family. Friends may call at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic Lodge memorial service at 6:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church, Harriston on Saturday, June 13 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Kathy Morden officiating. Reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Interment in Harriston Cemetery. Memorial donations to Parkinson Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
