McFarlane, George Cowan: Passed away peacefully May 31, 2013 at Hospice Wellington, Guelph surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of the late Muriel Gimblet (2010). Born 86 years ago in West Luther Township, George lived his life as an active citizen of Arthur. He was a member of the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, life member of the Optimist Club, and worked for many years as custodian of the Arthur Public School and popular school bus driver. Lovingly remembered by family members. He was father of Dr. Bob, Donna & family: Matt, Carly & Braeden, Maggie & Lee Schaffer, Andrew & Jessica, daughter, Mary Ellen Wooddisse & family: Rhonda & Dele, Trish, Steve, Aidan & Maddie Kelly, Joshua & Taika, son, David, Nicole & family: Jenny, Nathan, Logan & Hannah Fry, Danielle & Ben, daughter, Barbara & Scott & family: Kate Ellis & Georgia, Melissa Ellis, Luke Ellis, Ben Elliott, Kelsey, Connor & Tyson. Predeceased by his sons-in-law, Bill Elliott, 2005, Ron Wooddisse, 2010, only brother, Duncan McFarlane and their parents, George H. McFarlane and Mary E. Saunders. Visitation will be held at Crawford Funeral Home, 243 George Street, Arthur on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 149 Frederick Street, E., Arthur at 11:00 a.m. Following a funeral luncheon at Arthur Community Centre there will be an interment of cremated remains in Greenfield Cemetery, Arthur at 2 p.m.. As expressions of sympathy the family would appreciate donations to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Arthur, Hospice Wellington or to a charity of one’s choice.
