Peart, Janet – Passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at her sister Catharine’s home in Fergus, in her 71st year. Janet is predeceased by her loving husband Jack, and will be missed by her loving canine companion Penny. Janet fought a long and courageous three year battle against cancer and is finally at peace now and can rest knowing the love and daily support of nephew Robert will remain with her forever. She is survived by her sister Catharine Leighton (the late John) of Fergus, her brother-in-law Joe of Campbellville, and her sister and brother-in-law, Claire and Charlie Mitchell of Campbellville. Predeceased by her parents Jean and Bill Brennan of Rockwood and her sister Shirley. Janet was loved and will be deeply missed by nephews Robert Leighton (Laurie) of Fergus, Bill Leighton (Cheryl) of Mount Forest, and Stephen Lasby of Alberta, and nieces Mary Thomson (Gary) of Fergus, Janet Leighton-Dorie (Bruce) of Richmond Hill, Heather Wood, Patty Lasby of Campbellville, and Linda Roque (Jeff) of Rockwood. Janet will also be loved and remembered by many great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by great nephew Sean Thomson. She will be missed by many friends and special neighbour Virginia. Special thanks to the Guelph General Cancer Clinic doctors and nurses, and the Grand River Cancer Centre staff for all of their assistance. The family also wishes to thank the CCAC and the Bayshore staff for their care and support to make Janet as comfortable as possible. Friends were received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, one hour prior to the funeral service which was held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. Interment Rockwood Cemetery. Reception followed at Rockwood Presbyterian Church. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 4A-214 Speedvale Ave. W., Guelph, ON, N1H 1C4 would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted in memory of Janet Peart in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 2:30 pm.
