Halls, James R.; April 7, 1927 – August 20, 2011 Jim Halls died at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus on August 20, in his 85th year. Jim was born in Fergus, the son of the late Allan and Elizabeth Halls. He is survived by his sons Brad (and Heather) of Cobourg; Norman (and Patty) of London; and Allan (and Heather) of Milton; his four grandchildren Laura Harp of Guelph, David Halls of Toronto, and Garrett Halls and Peter Halls of Milton, and two great-grandchildren, John and Pearl Harp. He was the brother of Lorne Halls of Guelph, Lanore MacKenzie of Fergus, Murray Halls of Guelph, and the late Flora Nixon of Fergus, and the uncle to several nieces and nephews. A lifelong resident of Fergus, Jim was known for his time as a prominent lacrosse player with the Fergus Thistles, and his long time interest in antiques, being a noted collector of fine clocks and a talented refinisher of antique furniture. A reception for Jim was held at the Graham Giddy Funeral Home, Fergus on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011 from 7-9pm. Jim’s family would like to express their deep appreciation to all those who were of great help to him in recent times when he experienced health difficulties including doctors John Stickney and Rick Gergovich, case manager Saide Haddad, homemaker Bonnie Fries and other Red Cross home care workers.
