Burns, Don; Don Burns of Fergus, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness, at Wellington Terrace on Sunday, July 31, 2011 in his 78th year. Much loved husband of Eileen for 57 years. Dear dad of Len & his wife Kim, Ken & his wife Barb, Brad & his friend Gloria and Sharon and her husband Rick Scott. Proud grandpa of Allyssa, Montana, Lexey, Logan, Dannielle & Zach Burns and Kaileigh & her fiancé Ryan Osburn and Tali & Brady Scott. Survived by his sister Wilma Warmington Shoemaker. Don was born in West Garafraxa and farmed until he and Eileen moved to Fergus. There he began a 17 year career with the Town of Fergus Public Works Department. In 1972 he started his own business, Don Burns Excavating, which he ran successfully until his retirement and which is now continuing with his son Ken. Don was a hard worker first but enjoyed his snowmobiles, motorcycles and his cottage at Little Hawk Lake. He was always proud of his children and their accomplishments and his grandchildren brought a special twinkle to his eyes. He provided for his family well and was always so generous to those he loved. Visitation will be held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 280 St. David St. South in Fergus, on Thursday, August 4th from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be conducted at Bethel Baptist Church, 675 Victoria Terrace in Fergus, on Friday, August 5th at 11am.
