Cassie, Dorothy Christena (nee Bond); Passed away peacefully at the Royal Terrace in Palmerston, ON, on Sunday, June 5, 2011 in her 94th year. Predeceased by her loving husband the late Donald Roy Cassie in 1987. Dear mother of Barbara Bowman (Jim) of Waterloo, Donna Poag (Barry) of Grimsby, Douglas (Cecilia) of Elora, Elizabeth Borthwick (Andrew) of Waterloo and John (Nancy) of Calgary, Alberta. Proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren – Jeffrey, Heather and Rebecca Bowman, Graham and Colin Poag, David and Matthew Cassie, Ian Borthwick, Christena Baxter, Adam Cassie and great grandmother of 7. Fondly remembered by sister Phyllis Blanks (Joe) of Meridian, Mississippi and brother Gordon Bond (Edna) of Osgoode, ON. Dorothy was born on April 16, 1918 in Chesterville, ON, the daughter of the late John Bond and Isabella Lewis. A retired registered nurse, she graduated from Ottawa Civic Hospital in 1939. Resting at the Thomson Funeral Home. Visitation was held Tuesday, June 7 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service was held in the chapel on Wednesday, June 8 at 1pm. Interment at Belsyde Cemetery.
