Reeves, Terrence Arthur

Reeves, Terrence Arthur – Veteran WW II, R.C.A.F. Squadron 422 & 423. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Terry, on Saturday, March 19th, 2011 at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Fergus. Terry was in his 91st year and was actively engaged in the lives of all of his family until his passing. Predeceased by his beloved wife Irene (nee Newton), Terry will be greatly missed by his children Robert (Doreen), Marion (Jim), Terry Jr. (Carole), Carol (Jack), and son-in-law Glenn. He was a wonderful grandfather to Jo-Anne, Sarah (Frank), Katie (Tim), Jack and Thomas, and great-grandfather to Jesse, Brooke, Sam, Avery and Noah. Terry was predeceased by his daughter Patricia, son John and brother George. After attending high school in Fergus during the 1930’s, Terry was interested in flying and was one of the first young men to attend the Galt Aircraft School. This lead to his enlistment to fight in World War II and soon after he was posted overseas as a flight engineer and spent the war with Squadrons 422 and 423 of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a flight engineer in the protection of the North Atlantic. He returned to Fergus at the end of the war in 1945 and started a business with his good friend Warden Howes. The automobile dealership, Howes and Reeves Limited, continues today having benefitted from Terry’s involvement and interest for over 60 years. Terry was a long-standing member of the community and will be remembered by his many friends at the Fergus Legion, the Masonic Lodge, the Elmira Gun Club, the Northstar Hunt Club and for his volunteering with the Fergus Brass Band. Family and friends were received at Thomson Funeral Home in Fergus on Tuesday, March 22nd from 7 to 9pm and Wednesday, March 23rd from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. A funeral service was held at St. James Anglican Church, 171 Queen Street East, Fergus on Thursday, March 24th at 11am. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Groves Memorial Community Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
