Black, Alexander L. (Alex) – Of Guelph and formerly of Puslinch, passed away peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on Saturday, October 16, 2010, in his 100th year. Alex was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been predeceased by his parents Neil and May Black, brothers Harold and Lennie and a sister Elizabeth. Alex will be fondly remembered by a nephew Dennis Black of Kingsville and Leah Black, and a niece, the late Peggie Hutchins and her husband Bruce. Alex was a charter member of the Guelph-Wellington Men’s Club. Alex also participated internationally in many plowing matches and was past president of the Ontario Plowmen’s Association. A funeral service for Alex was held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 11am. Reception followed in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre. Interment at Farnham Cemetery, Arkell. Memorial contributions to the Foundation of the Guelph General Hospital would be appreciated.
