Kay, Beverley David McClure

Kay, Beverley David McClure; October 18, 1942 – January 14, 2010
Bev, my cherished husband and devoted Dad of Ailsa (Julia) and Laird (Raymond) passed away peacefully at home with his family surrounding him after his journey with ALS. We were all impressed with the strength of his spirit and his courage as he dealt with one loss after the other as this disease took its inevitable toll. Throughout his illness, he continued to be interested in life, people, writing up research papers for publication and was always delighted with interactions of family and friends. His sense of compassion for those who were close to him on his last journey was humbling. Bev was a Professor in the Land Resource Science Department of the University of Guelph for 34 years. He loved teaching, his interactions with students and graduate students, and was a respected researcher. Many strong relationships with his former graduate students continued up until his death. Maureen, Ailsa and Julia, Laird and Raymond mourn the loss of this loving, wise and sensitive man. He is also mourned by his brothers Steve (Linda) and Ross (Helen), his sisters Marlene (Ken) and Shirley (Murray); Maureen’s South African family : Brenda (Alan), Brian (Helene), John, Verna and many nephews and nieces. Our caring and compassionate circle of friends is saddened by their loss of a good friend. The family is deeply grateful for the compassion, care and knowledge of Dr. Kate Anderson. The nurses from Bayshore were angels of mercy and our therapists and dietician were all helpful in dealing with Bev’s ALS. Cremation has taken place. Friends called at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South in Fergus, on Tuesday, January 19th, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9pm.
