Brown, Ann Marie; Peacefully at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Arthur on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 in her 98th year, Ann Marie (Farrell) Brown RN, a life long resident of Arthur. Beloved wife of the late Patrick E. Brown (1995). Dear mother of Paul and Louise Brown of Georgetown, Mary Ann Robillard of Scarborough, Margaret and Terrence Downey and Patrick Brown and Ginny May, all of Calgary, Alb. Cherished grandmother of twenty-three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Survived by sisters Helen Collins of Cornwall and Teresa Conlon and her husband Gerry of Stoney Creek, brother Ken Farrell of Toronto and sisters-in-law Ann Farrell of Kitchener, Genevieve Weiss and Doris Brown, both of Stratford, Josephine Mecke of Dundas and Mabel Bruder of Guelph. Predeceased by sons Stephen, James and John, son-in-law James R. Robillard, brothers Stephen, James, Vincent, Frank and Nate Farrell and one sister Margaret (Sister St. Norbert, CSJ). Ann was born in Arthur on October 8, 1911, the daughter of Stephen Farrell and Mary Bodendistle. She was educated at Arthur High School and graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, Hamilton, Ontario in 1933. She married Patrick E. Brown of Arthur on August 10, 1940. She was the last surviving member of the large Farrell families that were original settlers in the Arthur area. Ann was a life-long member of the St. John the Evangelist Parish and was active in the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) in the parish for over fifty years, including serving as president for several years. The family received friends at the Crawford Funeral Home 243 George St., Arthur on Thursday, December 4, 2008 from 1-3pm and 6-8pm and on Friday, December 5, 2008 from 2pm until it was time to proceed to the church at 2:45pm. Parish prayers were said in the funeral home on Thursday afternoon at 12:45pm. A Mass of Christian Burial was held from St. John R.C. Church, Arthur on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 3pm. Father Edward Hinsperger celebrated. Spring interment St. John R.C. Cemetery, Arthur. Remembrances to P.E. Brown Scholarship, St. John the Evangelist Building Fund or a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
