Shaw, Opal Lillian (Pride) July 15, 1925 – October 11, 2008 ; It is with deep regret that the family of Opal Shaw, announce her passing October 11, 2008 at Groves Memorial Hospital. Opal enjoyed life with her warm & gentle ways, and smiling eyes. Many people were glad to refer to her as “Mom”,“Grandma Opal” or Friend. Since the passing of her husband Don, Opal lived life to its fullest at Caressant Care Retirement Home, Arthur. She loved all of her caretakers and enjoyed their company immensely. Whether it was doing a puzzle with her friends, playing cards or spending some quiet time one on one, in her room – she loved you all!
Throughout her life Opal was actively involved in Eastern Star, Peace Rebeccah Lodge, Friday Night Mixed Bowling, Arthur Curling Club, and Arthur Legion Bingo. She was an avid fan at the Arthur Ball Diamonds, various community centres, cheering on children and grand-children alike in softball, lacrosse or hockey. She is lovingly remembered by her children: David & Doreen Pringlemeir, Sally & David Fowlie and Susan & Steve O’Neill all of Arthur. Blessed to have Opal in their life are Paula & Tim Epoch. Grandmother of: Bill & Rebecca Pringlemeir, Mimico, Ontario, Jennifer & Ryan Lecuyer, Stoney Plain, Alberta, Jennifer Yurick, Salem, Ontario, Derek Yurick & Mel Ollikainen, Cookstown, David Jr. and Rebecca Fowlie, Arthur, Robyn Fowlie, Arthur, Travis Fowlie & Kayleigh Dingman, Arthur, April O’Neill, Arthur, Kelly O’Neill & Shawn McEwen, Fergus, Peggy O’Neill & Devon Brodrick, Wiarton. Great Grandmother of: David Jr. Jr. and Brandon Fowlie, Leo and Oliver Pringlemeir, Cheyenne and Autumn Lecuyer, Seth and Justin Yurick Predeceased by her loving husband Don Shaw, Parents: David and Lillian Pride and much loved Brother, Bill Pride. Opal was buried from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Wednesday, October 15th. Funeral service was conducted by Reverend Rosanne Prevette from St. Thomas, with internment to Greenfield Cemetery.
