McMorris, Lenore; Born Olive Lenore Archibald in Caistor Township, March 12, 1923, she grew up on a farm near Smithville, Ontario. Lenore was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Air Force (Women’s Division). Studies toward a career in nursing were cut short due to medical reasons. Always a natural learner, Lenore continued to grow in understanding of the world through her career and her life long love of reading. She married Stuart McMorris of Pilkington Township on January 30th, 1954 and together they raised a family of three on the farm. Lenore experienced the challenges, sorrows, and joys of farm life. Visitors and family enjoyed the fruits of her gardens and kitchen. Lenore and Stuart were incredibly proud of their eight grandchildren. Lenore is survived by her children Peggy DeGroot (Jerry), Dave (Ann Marie), and Mike (Bev) and by her grandchildren Juliana Cashin (Mike), Eric and Natasha DeGroot, Melissa, Michelle, Meghan, Owen, and Darcy McMorris. Lenore was truly grateful for her neighbours, her church community (Bethany) and the Singing Seniors with whom she had so much fun. Lenore passed away very peacefully at home, full of faith and with the love of her family and friends on May 19th, 2008. Reverend Greg Smith-Young officiated a celebration of Lenore’s life on May 22nd, 2008.
Donations in memoriam may be made to Bethany United Church or Groves Memorial Community Hospital.
