Oakes, Florence Marion (nee Benham); Passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 1, 2007. She lived an active and independent life for 90 years. Her family came first, but she also loved her Church, her friends and neighbours and, of course, the Blue Jays and card games. Beloved mother of Louise (George) Swan and Betty (Ken) Sproule. Loving grandmother of Dr. Kathryn, Jennifer and Erica Swan, who called her "O-O". She was a special aunt to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband and soul mate Bill (1974) and son David (1967), her sisters Grace and Helen, and brothers Art, George and Charlie. A special thank you to Dr. Jim Swan and caregiver Niza for their kind and compassionate care. Friends were received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph (www.wallcustance.com), Monday (2-4 and 7-9 p.m.) and one hour prior to the funeral service, which was held, in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. (Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre).
