Dear Editor,
The purpose of this letter is to raise awareness withing the county of the massive cuts currently being made to services to support frail older adults and persons with dementia to remain safely in their homes. The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care states that they are investing in services to help individuals remain at home and independent in the community, but this is a fallacy. Reform of the administration heavy CCACs is necessary, but in the interim, erosion of critical support services is happening that is in complete contravention of the stated goals of keeping people out of hospitals and long term care. O urge anyone who has experienced cuts in services to raise their voice, contact your local MPP constituency office and send the message that is is not acceptable to balance budgets by cutting services to Wellington County residents.
