Dear Editor:
Why won’t the Ontario Liberals tell us anything about their proposed Ontario Retirement Pension Plan? How will it work? I have sent several requests to Kathleen Wynne’s office and the local Liberal candidate, Zan Zister’s campaign office asking for clarificationon the ORPP, but have not received a single reply.
Some of the questions I have asked include:
What can I, a 58 year old worker that would have to contribute to the ORPP, expect to receive as a pension when I retire at age 65, assuming I pay the maximum premium?
What happens to a worker who moves from an employer without a pension plan to one with a pension plan and vice versa? What happens to the pension and premiums paid?
What happens when a worker moves out of province?
Are there survivour’s benefits for spouses of workers and pensioners who die?
You would think that with the ORPP being one of the central planks of the Liberal platform and budget, they would have some answers. What are they trying to hide?
