Am I alone in feeling dismissed as a constituent of Michael Chong’s? I’m very tired of reading the platitudes he expresses in his circulars and in his columns in this paper and I wish, instead, that he would acknowledge and address the very concerning issues surrounding the policies and actions of his government expressed by citizens in conversations and through letters to this paper.
Who has heard Mr. Chong address real concerns about his government’s poor treatment of veterans? Now his government has moved to allow pipelines to flow through our national parks. Does Mr. Chong think this is a good legacy for future generations? How can Mr. Chong defend the undemocratic practice of bundling 40 pieces of unrelated legislation in his government’s most recent omnibus budget bill? Three years on, the Robocalls investigation is still not concluded as his party engaged in what was called “trench warfare”. What about the Nigel Wright/Mike Duffy scandal? How can Mr. Chong support the so-called Fair Elections Act that will, among other things, tilt the results of future elections in favour of his party (as experts are warning)?
We deserve better from our Member of Parliament. Let’s see if Michael Chong rises to the challenge.
