Dear Community Members,
I am excited to invite you to our annual Chili Fest events that will be taking place – 1 in the Town of Erin and the other in Rockwood (details of each below). Our goal is to raise over $1,000 from these events with proceeds donated to the United Way of Guelph Wellington Dufferin as part of their annual fundraising campaign.
At each event, you will be able to enjoy a bowl of chili, homemade and served, by members of our Board of Directors, a bun and drink for only $5.00! Plus – you will have a chance to vote on your favourite chili to help us determine which chili wins “best of the fest” honours this year!
We have been fortunate to receive funding from the United Way for our programs including the food bank and information and referral services; however, with needs increasing within so many of the programs and services funded by the United Way, it’s more important than ever that we help the United Way to reach, and exceed, their fundraising goal of 3.4 million dollars so that there is the ability for United Way to continue to fund the over 80 local programs.
Ken Dardano, United Way executive director, is excited about this year’s campaign. “It’s a hard reality, but we continue to see increasing demands for all of the programs we fund,” commented Mr. Dardano. “Every dollar donated makes a difference, helping people through the 80 plus local programs United Way funds. Requests for the 2013 funding year are well above last cycle’s numbers, indicating the increased need for support from the community and United Way.”
