RACING PANEL FLAWED- From the beginning the horse racing transitional panel’s problem has been, contrary to Kathleen Wynne’s claims, that none of the members has any expertise in the racing industry. When you compare the panels reports thus far to the Robert Burgess/Rob Fellows submission for example you see how the panel fails to grasp even the basics of the industry. At $525,000 we expected more. John Wilkinson admitted that the panel was only picked for its political expertise!
If representatives from standardbred and thoroughbred racing had been appointed to the panel to begin with we probably would be further along and have some real solutions. Instead we have wasted time trying to teach the panel about horse racing. Time will tell if they listened.
