Guelph-Eramosa approves Joint Compliance Audit Committee

Guelph-Eramosa Township has appointed four members to the Joint Compliance Audit Committee.

All municipalities in Wellington County are included in the Joint Compliance Audit Committee.

“The township of Puslinch coordinated the recruitment of applicants for the committee, in consultation with the participating municipalities,” clerk Meaghen Reid wrote in a Sept. 4 report to council.

“This is for the review of the financial statements as well as receiving the reports in the new year after the campaign period has ended,” Reid said at the meeting.

The four appointees include: Jim McQueen, Wesley Snarr, Douglas Auld and Joseph Servos. It will cost about $1,000 if a complaint arises.

The four members will each be paid $125 per meeting and it is assumed two meetings will be required if a complaint arises. If the report shows there were no grounds for the complaint the council can recover the committee’s cost from the applicant.

Goetz Construction

Council approved the release of site plan agreement securities for the new site of Goetz Construction.

In June  2017 council entered into a site plan agreement with Goetz Construction for lands at 5063 Wellington Road 32.

The agreement was for the contractor to renovate the existing building and build a 2,000 square-foot (188 square-metre) addition on the east side.

The township planner confirmed the site was in conformity with the approved site plan.

The owner will be bringing forward another minor amendment for outdoor storage on the property.

The township was holding $70,407 in securities and council approved the release of these securities in full.

Birkholz Drain

The township has entered into an agreement with the Township of Centre Wellington to clean out the Birkholz Drain.

Silt is piling up and small willows are growing in the ditch.  Because the work is primarily within the Centre Wellington boundary, the township has agreed to pay the construction accounts, estimated to be $9,000, until the work is completed. At that time the cost can be pro-rated and be assessable to the affected landowners.

Subdivision agreement

The township has approved a subdivision agreement for the Bonarrow Subdivision.

The development is located at the north end of Rockwood, adjacent to Rockmosa Park, and is being developed by Charleston Homes. The subdivision will include about 200 new single detached homes and townhouses.
