Elora Fergus Tourism coordinated a tour for National Geographic in town recently as part of its marketing campaign efforts.
A team of three including a photographer and an illustrator visited Centre Wellington to focus on 20 sites and experiences in and around the area.
The purpose of the visit was to capture assets, photos, illustrations, and text for an online feature on NationalGeographic.com about great road trips in Ontario featuring Elora and Fergus.
The article plans to capture the outdoor and natural beauty of Centre Wellington as well local arts and culinary experiences.
Elora Fergus Tourism coordinated the three to four day schedule with input from both National Geographic, RTO 4 and Destination Ontario.
The article will be released globally this October.
The Township of Centre Wellington, Destination Ontario and RTO4 partnered on a provincial digital campaign that is currently underway to celebrate the attributes of Fergus and Elora and the re-launch of the Elora Mill Hotel & Spa.
A film shoot took place on July 10 and involved three different crews focusing on aerial shots, film and still photography.
Fergus and Elora were featured including a variety of experiences, scenic vistas and heritage downtowns.
The objective of the campaign was to increase awareness and intent of Ontarians within a three-hour drive.
The targeted audience was Ontario couples aged between 30-49 and interested in a traveling and a cultural lifestyle.
The campaign also included four special feature articles included in the Toronto Star.
The articles included festivals and events in our area, heritage downtown, the Elora Mill re-launch and a wedding lifestyle article featuring Elora and Fergus as the perfect setting.
