Walk of Hope supports Ovarian cancer victims

The Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope is scheduled for Sept. 9 at the Arboretum in Guelph.

The walk directs all attention and funds to overcoming the most fatal women’s cancer.

One out of every two women diagnosed with ovarian cancer isn’t expected to live to see another five years.

Unlike other cancers, survival rates for women with this disease haven’t improved in 50 years.

“We’re rallying the community and fundraising for much-needed change,” said volunteer co-chair, Frances Vanover.

“I invite everyone to walk with us because the women in your life are important to you, and they deserve better.

“Join us at the Walk in Guelph to help women live fuller, better, longer lives.”

Since starting in 2002, the walk has raised more than $25 million to provide support, increase awareness and fund vital research. The walk brings people together to empower one another, support one another, and demand better for women living with ovarian cancer.

Registration opens at 9am on Sept. 9. Participants will embark on the 2.5 km or 5 km route at 11am.
