A status report on the water supply master plan (WSMP) was presented to Centre Wellington council on June 18.
The report provided an update on work completed to date including: water demand projections, current water capacity assessment, groundwater modelling scenarios and public feedback received.
In January, the township retained the consulting firm AECOM to prepare the WSMP and conduct the public consultation. The plan has been separated into the following tasks:
AECOM has completed the first three tasks and are moving on to task four, which is identification of water supply alternatives.
The project team will evaluate water supply alternatives such as demand management/conservation programs, optimization of existing wells, additional groundwater sources and local surface water alternatives.
A second round of public consultation is planned for early 2019.
