A vehicle striking a hydro pole between Fergus and Belwood on July 9 left some residents without power in the Belwood area.
Centre Wellington Deputy Fire Chief Jonathan Karn said the department received a call around 4pm regarding an MVC with hydro wires down on Wellington Road 18 at 9th Street.
An update from dispatch stated the downed hydro lines had started a grass fire.
Karn said units arrived and found a single vehicle, which had struck a hydro pole, snapped the hydro pole off and live hydro lines contacted the ground and started a large grass fire.
Occupants exited the vehicle with minor injuries.
Karn noted two people had minor injuries and were transported to Groves hospital by Guelph Wellington Paramedic Service.
Firefighters had to wait for Hydro One to arrive on scene before extinguishing the grass fire due to the hydro lines.
Hydro One crews isolated the power resulting in the hydro loss for some Belwood area residents.
In addition, Wellington Road 18 between the 4th and 5th Lines was closed by the Wellington County roads department while Hydro One crews replaced the pole and restored power.
Karn added that Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue CWFR cleared the scene around 5:30pm.
