Another garden suite is being approved in Centre Wellington.
Council gave its approval to the garden suite following a public meeting at the June 25 meeting.
The purpose of the proposed zoning bylaw amendment is to change the zoning of the subject land from “A” Agricultural to “A” Agricultural Exception.
The effect of the amendment is to enact a temporary use bylaw in order to allow for a garden suite on the subject lands for a period of up to 20 years.
The garden suite is to provide housing for a relative of the property owner.
The land is at 6862 Eighth Line West, Pilkington.
Centre Wellington senior planner Mariana Iglesias explained the application is to allow a garden suite on the property.
She noted the existing property is about 25 acres in size and there is sufficient space for the garden suite, which would be set back significantly from the road and would not use up any farmland on the property.
Iglesias noted the current owners would be moving into the new trailer and their son and his family would be moving into the house to assist with the running farm operations. She stated the application meets the township zoning requirements and requires site specific allowances because of the distance between the residence and the garden suite.
Councillors endorsed the request later in the meeting.
