Next weekend, the township is taking part in Culture Days, an annual cross-Canada event. Arthur, Kenilworth and Mount Forest are all hosting events to celebrate local artistry and culture.
Arthur
Families can visit the Metz Pumpkin Fest on Sept. 28 from 3 to 9pm. The event includes pumpkin and zucchini weigh-ins and launching of the pumpkins with catapults.
Organizers ask families to bring along a salad or desert for the table. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided.
The Arthur library is hosting a ukulele boot camp for preteens, Grades four to eight, on Sept. 28 from 2 to 3pm. Some ukuleles will be provided and organizers ask participants to register in advance. On Sept. 29, the library invites all ages for a musical jam session.
The Arthur museum is opening its doors on Sept. 29 from 10am to 3pm with exhibits on the area’s military history.
Kenilworth
The Lynes Blacksmith Shop, an ongoing community heritage restoration project, is hosting an open house Sept. 28 from 1 to 4pm, Sept. 29 from 9am to 4pm and Sept. 30 from 9am to 3pm.
The blacksmith shop was in operation from 1870 until 1951.
Mount Forest
Artisans’ Day at the Wellington North Farmer’s Market is at 320 King Street in Mount Forest on Sept. 28 from 3 to 6:30pm and includes live music and wood and metal creations.
The cemetery chapel is opening its doors on Sept. 28 from 10 am to 2 pm. Burial information will be provided for people locating trying to locate family members or friends buried in the cemetery.
The Four Corners Quilter’s Guild is offering lessons and tips on the art of quilting at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex on Sept. 29 from 10am to 3pm.
Scottish Dancers will also be performing at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex on Sept. 29 from 11am to noon.
The Mount Forest library is encouraging all residents to create a piece of storybook art illustration. The event is on Sept. 29 from 10am to 3pm.
