This weekend, the University of Guelph will hold its second annual SummerFest on the Green.
The all-ages community event will take place June 24 from 11am to 4pm, on Johnston Green at College Avenue East and Gordon Street. The event is free and open to everyone.
The event will feature live music by children’s performers Splash’N Boots and indie rockers Hollerado.
Also appearing will be Indigenous dancers and storytellers called White Pine Dancers, and rock cover band Brave & Crazy.
SummerFest will also feature food trucks, a beer garden and activity tents, including ice cream developed by food scientists, make-your-own planter boxes with blooms from university greenhouses and a visit with live birds of prey.
Kids can bring their stuffed animals for a wellness check by student veterinarians and visitors can meet members of the Gryphon football team, create a clan necklace using traditional materials and Indigenous teachings, and explore the science of slime.
