West Luther 4-H Dairy Club holds first meeting April 28

On April 28, the West Luther 4-H Dairy club held their first meeting at Fraegrove Holsteins on 2nd Line in Elora.

Introductions were done as there are some returning members and some new to the club this year. New members were welcomed and returning members were welcomed back for 2018.

Nominations and voting was done for the 2018 executive. Results were: president Charlene Elliott, vice president Adam Krul and secretary/press reporter Grayson Kuhlmann.

The leaders gave an overview of the year ahead and the expectations of members.

They also gave  a list of dates for the 2018 fairs, fitting day,  achievement days and qualifiers for the Royal team.

They also explained some of the leadership opportunities, camps and scholarships available.

We then played a fun trivia game “Dairy Jeopardy” testing our dairy knowledge. We discussed judging and what to look for in a good dairy cow. We learned how to place a class and how to give reasons for placement of the class.

The meeting was closed with the 4-H pledge – the next meeting will be in May at Belwin Farms in Elora.
