Construction of a roundabout at Teviotdale, the intersection of Wellington Roads 109, 7 and 123, is set to begin on May 22 and the planned completion of the project is August 31.
Welllington County Construction manager Mark Eby stated in an email that traffic will be maintained throughout construction except for a full closure to complete the paving of the surface asphalt sometime in August.
“The travelling public should expect delays while the project is ongoing. The contractor will not be allowed to work after 3pm on Fridays to try to alleviate traffic congestion for the cottagers heading to the lake,” Eby noted.
On the authority of the county engineer, the speed limit in the vicinity of the intersection will be lowered from 70 km/h to 50 km/h to facilitate a safe construction zone.
The intersection will also be converted from the traffic lights to a fourway stop at some point not too long after the contractor commences work. “This is similar to how the roundabout at WR 5 and 109 was constructed south of Harriston,” Eby noted.
Eby said project signs will be erected at the site and a social media campaign will be used to reach out to the traveling public to inform them to expect delays and seek alternate routes.
Also set to begin on May 22 is work on the replacement of the Gordonville Bridge on Wellington Road 14 immediately north of Line 6 between Arthur and Conn.
The road will be closed until work is completed in November. County and MTO roads will be used as much as possible for the detour route, Eby noted.
