As the construction phase for the new Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus is well underway, the Wellington County Museum and Archives looks back at the beginnings of acute medical care in Wellington County with the Groves Memorial Community Hospital exhibit.
The exhibit opens May 19 and remain on display until Aug. 5.
As Dr. Abraham Groves stated in 1934, “Hospitals should be looked at primarily as centres from which should emanate never-ending streams of knowledge regarding the prevention of disease.”
“Through photographs, artifacts and videos our newest exhibit showcases the past, present and the future of Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Wellington County,” said curator Sandu Sindile.
“We are excited to highlight the changes over the years from the first hospital (that) opened in 1902 to the new hospital that will be opening in 2020.”
