Save Our Water to host information meeting May 9

Save Our Water is hosting a public meeting on May 9 to update Centre Wellington residents on upcoming issues and what they are facing regarding  control of local water.

Organizers state Centre Wellington is in the difficult position of doubling in population and numerous water issues continues.

The meeting is upstairs hall at the Elora Legion at 7pm on May 9.

Organizers state a major report reveals various concerns facing Centre Wellington.

The meeting provides the group’s perspective on the results of this report and the issues they say the township must deal with to continue to provide quality water.

With eight months remaining on the provincial moratorium on new permits to take water, organizers state the next steps are crucial.  

Save Our Water states this is an opportunity to find out what citizens can do in the coming months to protect a local water source.

Organizers state, “As the provincial election approaches, we need to be aware of what could happen … The municipal election comes up in October and we need to know the situation we face in relation to water and local government as well.”
