Centre Wellington has sold the former Fergus water tower site for $375,000.
On March 26, councillors agreed to declare the property, at 210 Forfar Street East, as surplus and to endorse an offer to purchase negotiated with Diamond Quality Homes Ltd.
The property was once home to one of the township’s water towers. The tower was removed a number of years ago and, following site cleanup, the land received a record of site condition from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
The property is approximately 0.24 acres, with a frontage of approximately 100 feet, and is 100 feet deep.
A staff report to council stated the best use of the property would be to sever it into two single family residential lots. This would be similar to the residential pattern along Forfar Street East.
The property is not serviced, but services are available along the street.
