Municipal officials have declined to comment on why the town’s former public works director is listed on the province’s 2017 Sunshine List, despite his announced retirement last March.
Brian Hansen, who joined the town as public works director in 2011, resigned from the position “to take early retirement for health reasons and/or to continue his career closer to family in the Dutton area,” states a press release issued by the Town of Minto on March 23, 2017.
The Sunshine List of Ontario public sector workers earning $100,000 or more annually, released March 23, lists Hansen under Town of Minto public works with earnings of $104,131 last year.
Contacted by the Advertiser, Minto CAO Bill White stated, “the Town’s media release (March 23, 2017) outlined the extent the town would comment on the end of its employment relationship with Brian Hansen more than a year ago.
“The Town of Minto has filed all its salary disclosures as per provincial legislation.”
The 2017 press release indicated the town was planning to restructure its public works department so a replacement would not immediately be pursued.
The position of public works director has not been filled, with White, in conjunction with the town’s consultant, Triton Engineering, continuing to oversee public works operations.
