People gathered in the atrium of Three Willows United Church recently to celebrate a February water blessing.
Among the fragrance of greenery, community participants talked about the power and the majesty of water as ice, officials say.
Rev John Lawson used “ice quotes” to illustrate the beauty, strength and science of ice.
Participants shared stories of ice and winters of the past when seasonally cold temperatures were more reliable, ensuring that snow and ice was available for kids of all ages.
Karen Rathwell, Wellington Water Watcher co-host, reminded the group why it’s so important to “revisit these memories of our Earth’s gifts.”
Wellington Water Watchers invites community groups to co-host Water Blessings in order to reflect on the deep relationship everyone has with water.
The next Water Blessing will be on March 25 from 3 to 4pm, co-hosted with Save Our Water at Bissell Park in Elora.
