Organizers of the Daffodil Lunch benefitting the Canadian Cancer Society say the annual fundraiser “has run its course.”
In a March 5 letter to the Advertiser, coordinator Linda Westrik announced it is time “to close the book” on the event, which offered a dine-in or take-out lunch at the Fergus Legion for a small donation to the cancer society.
Westrik expressed appreciation for the support of volunteers, churches and businesses over the years, but noted “a steady decline” in attendance and difficulty finding volunteers ultimately spelled the end for the event.
The lunch raised $2,860 in 2017 and $3,721 in 2016.
