Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Perth South man wanted in connection with a brief police chase last month in which a vehicle rammed a police cruiser.
On Jan. 31 at about 3:30pm a Wellington County OPP officer attempted to stop a driver in a stolen pick-up at the Tim Hortons in Palmerston.
“The suspect rammed the police cruiser causing damage to the rear driver’s side door,” police stated in a press release, adding the officer was not injured. “The suspect then fled the scene. The officer followed the suspect to attempt to stop him, however discontinued the pursuit for public safety reasons.”
Police say the stolen truck was later located in Blyth and had been set on fire.
Christopher Hutchinson, 35, of Perth South, who is currently in custody of another police service, will be charged with flight while pursued by a peace officer, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
