An alleged shoplifter may have pressed his luck by returning to the scene of a previous theft.
On Feb. 5 at about 1:20pm Wellington County OPP were contacted by an employee from a store who said a suspect in a November shoplifting incident was in the store.
OPP officers responded but the male had left the store.
“With the help of the description provided by the employees, officers located the male as he was leaving Marks Work Warehouse at 900 Tower Street South,” police say, adding he was in possession of stolen property.
Phillip Howarth, 44, of Hamilton, was charged with possession of stolen property obtained by crime (under $5,000) and two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.
He is to appear in Guelph court on March 6.
