Caught by OPP in forest

A Guelph man was apprehended in a forest after allegedly fleeing the scene of a collision faces numerous charges.

On Feb. 6 at about 6:30am Wellington County OPP received a report about a man who failed remain at the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Irvine Street, north of Sideroad 15, just outside Elora.

Police say the suspect, whose vehicle hit two parked vehicle at the location, “fled on foot into the forest area.”

Officers followed the suspect’s footprints into the forest and found him hiding under some brush.

Eric Gordon Patterson, 23, of Guelph, was charged with: theft from a vehicle (under $5,000), possession of property obtained by crime (under $5,000), dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, possession of methamphetamine, failing to comply with a probation order and two counts of theft of a motor vehicle.

He is to appear in Guelph court on March 16.
