OPP seek suspect in “˜road rage”™ assault

Police are asking for help to identify a suspect who allegedly assaulted another driver during a “road rage” incident.

On Feb. 6 at about 6:30pm, Wellington County OPP received a report of an assault on Beatty Line near Sideroad 15 in Centre Wellington.

Police say the victim was driving north on Beatty Line when he noticed a black older-model Honda, possibly a Civic, “tailgating” his vehicle.

The victim pulled over to the shoulder, stopped his car and exited the vehicle.

“At this time, two unknown males exited the suspect vehicle,” police state in a press release.

“The suspect approached the victim and used profanity then … threw the victim to the ground and assaulted him.

“The incident lasted a short amount of time and ended when the suspect and passenger got back into their car and fled the scene. The victim received treatment for minor injuries.”

Police say the suspect is a white male, about 30 years old, with black hair, a beard and moustache. He was wearing a black winter coat, blue jeans and a black toque. The passenger is described as a tall white male.

“This appears to be an isolated incident and OPP is asking the public for their assistance in locating the suspect,” police stated.
