Guelph-Eramosa is proposing a 1.94 per cent property tax increase this year. That means the average resident will pay an additional $4.83 in taxes per $100,000 worth of residential assessment
On Jan. 10 Guelph-Eramosa held a budget meeting at which department heads answered questions from council.
The total proposed budget for this year is about $18.8 million, with about $6.5 million being raised through taxation, including $154,000 for a dedicated infrastructure levy.
Though this year’s proposed budget is down $2.5 million from last year’s total of about $21.3 million, the tax levy is up $123,812 from $6.3 million in 2017.
The budget includes:
– $257,453 for planning
– $1.9 million for general administration;
– $2 million for protection of person and property;
– $3.2 million for parks and recreation;
– $5 million for environmental services; and
– $6.5 million for transportation (roads).
The township will hold a budget open house on Jan. 29 at 7pm in the council chamber.
