Handmade Market returns Oct. 29

The Elora Handmade Market is returning for a second fall show on Oct. 29.

The show will feature new vendors as well as returning vendors, live music and more food. The festival is moving inside to Aboyne hall at the Wellington County Museum and Archives.

The event, organized by Mandy Morrison of ReFind Salvage in Elora, has grown over the last year.

“We like to keep things fresh and we have a new batch of talented artisans this fall,” said Morrison.

Half of the vendors are new, with the others returning from previous shows.

“We have learned that people just love handmade,” said Morrison.

“The feedback we have received from our last two shows have been very positive and the response from vendors wanting to be a part of the show was overwhelming.”

She added, “We received over 200 applications for this show, so we know that our venue and curated selection of vendors really attracts some of the best makers around.”

Morrison said the community has really responded to the show.

“Not only do people really yearn for a one-stop-shop for all things handmade, we feel that meeting the maker makes the experience that much more special,” she said.

This year’s vendors will be selling: crafts, artwork, clothing, pottery, soap, accessories, décor, makeup and more. The handmade market has a general admission of $2. Proceeds from admission, the bake sale and raffle table will be donated to the Food and Friends program at Centre Wellington District High School.

“I volunteered there for several years, making breakfast for up to 600 students once a week,” said Morrison.

“It’s an amazing program, run by the talented chef instructor Nicole DeBeyer, who commits hours of her time to help feed hungry high school students. The program ensures that no child goes to school hungry, therefore supporting a healthy mind that is ready to learn.”

The Elora Handmade Market runs from 10am to 3pm on Oct. 29 in the Aboyne hall at the county museum. For more information visit facebook.com/elorahandmademarket.
