“Leaf” it to staff to pick up bagged leaves beginning Nov. 6 as part of the annual bagged leaf collection program in Centre Wellington.
Pickup of bagged leaves, only in paper leaf bags, in Elora, Salem and Fergus begins the week of Nov. 6 and continues to Nov. 24.
Bagged leaves should be placed within one metre of the road edge. Leaves raked to the curbside or bags that contain sticks, wood or other waste will not be picked up.
A new option allows residents to drop off their leaves at the Public Works Yard at 600 Glengarry Cres., Fergus or the Public Works Yard at 100 Park Rd., Elora on Saturday mornings from 8am to noon on Oct. 21, 28 and Nov. 4. Leaves can be dropped off in bags or in bulk at no cost.
Bagged leaves may also be taken to Gerrie’s Garden Centre at 7646 Colborne St. Elora for a nominal fee.
Brush, limbs and sticks can be taken to the Belwood Transfer Station. Garden waste, potted plants, pumpkins etc., can be taken to the Belwood or Elora Transfer Station.
Where possible, residents are asked to mulch leaves with a mower so that nutrients will be returned to the soil. Composting is also encouraged. For more information or tips on compost and mulching, visit www.centrewellington.ca/trees.
