Recently, Centre Wellington joined communities across Canada to celebrate Culture Days, a national movement created to recognize the enormous contribution of Culture to healthy vibrant communities.
The weekend was a great time to discover something new, something different, and connect with the creative and cultural side of Centre Wellington.
Once again, the Culture Days Passport guided people around the community.
“This was our 6th year hosting Culture Days events and it was amazing to see so many people enjoying and celebrating local culture” said Centre Wellington Community Development Coordinator, Elizabeth Bender.
“The passport stops were incredible, offering unique and engaging experiences and people took great advantage of the opportunity to travel around and be part of our culturally rich community. Comments and feedback were wonderfully positive with everyone enjoying events and activities while getting their pasSports stamped.”
This year’s event featured 14 stops with participation and contributions from a variety of local cultural groups, organizations, and businesses.
From concerts to ceilidhs, dancing to drama, historical tales to horses, agriculture to art, this year’s passport touched on many of local cultural attributes.
Cultural hubs were also highlighted including the newly renovated Fergus Grand Theatre, all three local libraries, the Elora Centre for the Arts, the Wellington County Museum and Archives, as well as greenspaces and downtown cores.
