Another successful Terry Fox Run was held in Drayton this year, raising about $21,000 for cancer research. Organizers reported this week that donations were still coming in.
“People of all ages, and walks of life, joined together for a great cause,” states a press release from the local Terry Fox Run committee. “A small community came together, showing support for one another; from cancer survivors, to their families and friends, to those battling cancer themselves, the goal was the same: a cure.”
Organizers added, “It was an inspiration to witness the accomplishments of the ‘King’ team, a young mother, battling cancer, together with her family and friends, completed the run and raised over $1,000.
“A huge thank you goes out to all the participants, donors and volunteers.
“This year we had the most participants that Drayton has ever seen – 220 people attended – and we are hoping that this number will continue to grow!”
School Terry Rox Runs raised: $639 at Drayton Heights, $110 at Community Christian and $2,000 at Maryborough Public.
