The Barrie Hill United Church, in Guelph-Eramosa Township, is celebrating it’s 185th anniversary this year.
The church is hosting members and former Wellington County Museum curator, Susan Dunlop, as a guest speaker at its Oct. 22 anniversary service.
“We are proud of our heritage and have continued to upgrade our building to provide a welcoming space for attendees,” officials say. “Friends in our community have also made changes in their homes to accommodate ever changing lifestyles.
“As part of our anniversary celebrations this year, we are showcasing some of these amazing changes by hosting a Harvest Home Tour.”
The tour will take place on Sept. 30 from 9:30am to 4:30pm.
This will be a self-guided tour of seven country homes plus the community cemetery.
Johnson Cemetery recently completed a stone building enhancing the beauty of the property.
Some of the homes on the tour are heritage homes and some are newer builds.
The participating homeowners include: Russ and Susan Spicer; Jason and Cara Castellan; Mike Bonneveld and Cynthia Waldow; Jim and Shirley McFarlane; Chris and Jessie Weir; Bill and Leslie MacTaggart; and Wim and Agatha Polle.
Lunch will be offered at the church from 11:30am to 1:30pm for $10.
As well at the church there will be a country store offering homemade quilts, crafts, jams, preserves and produce.
Tickets are $25 each and are available for pick up at Ennotville Garage, Swanstons Farm Equipment and Sharpe Farm Supplies (Guelph location).
