Flowers Canada Growers (FCG) has received almost $400,000 from the federal government to increase Canada’s global competitiveness.
To help secure and increase the export market of Canadian flowers, Chris Bittle, St. Catharines MP, on behalf of Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister, Lawrence MacAulay, announced the $393,070 in funding under the Growing Forward 2, AgriMarketing program at an event on Aug. 29.
The investment will allow FCG to develop standardized training protocols for flower growers on Canada’s new export certification program for greenhouse-grown plants.
The training will ensure workers and managers understand and comply with the new program.
The funding will also help FCG increase their market share domestically and internationally through various marketing activities.
