Remaining healthy and independent becomes increasingly important as you age because your personal wellness contributes to your entire community.
That’s the theme of the Eden Mills Community Fitness Initiative which begins Sept. 11.
Where better to pilot the Better with Fitness initiative than in the village where community spirit has already made tremendous strides towards becoming North America’s first carbon neutral village?
Believing that people need to begin taking charge of their own wellness so as not to burden family and friends down the road, Jill Simpson, who works both with the Alzheimer and Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Societies as a professional fitness and dance instructor, is partnering with the Eden Mills Community Club in launching its wellness initiative. Better with Fitness will offer numerous classes that focus not only on physical exercise but also on education regarding simple lifestyle choices that contribute to long-term physical and cognitive wellbeing.
Recognizing that people remain committed to a fitness goal when the process is light-hearted, entertaining and community oriented, Simpson has designed a unique set of classes that focus on simple fun and social interaction, while challenging the body and brain to build strength and resilience. Classes will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays at the Eden Mills Community Hall.
