GUELPH – Police seized over $250,000 in drugs and cash thanks to what OPP officials have called “solid police work.”
On Dec. 31 at about 10:40am, Wellington County OPP officers were informed about a vehicle that was stolen from the Jesuit Centre on Highway 6 in Guelph-Eramosa.
The investigation led the officers to the Delta Hotel located on Stone Road East in Guelph.
“Officers were able to identify the parties at the hotel believed to be responsible for the theft,” police stated in an OPP release.
“Circumstances allowed officers to attend the suspect’s hotel room and gain entry.”
The officers arrested a man, woman and a female teen and a search of the room uncovered a large amount of cash, suspected drugs and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
A 30-year-old Wellington North man was charged with: possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking; possession of crystal meth for the purpose of trafficking; possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking; possession of Xanax for the purpose of trafficking; resisting a peace officer; possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose; possession of heroin; and failing to leave a premises when directed.
A 34-year-old woman from Cambridge was charged with: possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking; possession of crystal meth for the purpose of trafficking; possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking; and possession of Xanax for the purpose of trafficking.
A 17-year-old female of no fixed address was charged with: possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking; possession of crystal meth for the purpose of trafficking; possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking; possession of Xanax for the purpose of trafficking; and failing to leave a premises when directed.
All three accused parties were held for bail.
“The officers involved in this incident did an outstanding job,” stated OPP Constable Marylou Schwindt.
“With all the factors in play here they were able to take apart what was a complex investigation and conclude it in a manner that ensured the safety of themselves and the individuals involved.
“They took a significant quantity of illegal drugs off the streets using solid police work. They deserve a lot of credit for what they did.”
