Following sold-out performances of Swan Lake (2016), Sleeping Beauty (2015) and Cinderella (2014), Drayton Entertainment will once again present Canada’s Ballet Jörgen this fall – this time the dance company will present the magical tale of the Russian Grand Duchess Anastasia.
The ballet celebrates the 100th anniversary of the story and will be on stage for two performances only on Sept. 30 at 2 and 7:30pm at Dunfield Theatre Cambridge.
“This is a great opportunity for audiences of all ages to experience another form of entertainment at the Dunfield Theatre Cambridge. It’s also a wonderful chance for parents and grandparents to introduce children to the magical world of dance in a way that is accessible and relatable,” said Alex Mustakas, artistic director of Drayton Entertainment.
The mystery of what happened to the 17-year-old Grand Duchess has fascinated people for nearly a century.
Anastasia is both the touching story of an innocent girl and the subject of modern mythology, as there is great speculation about what actually happened that fateful summer of 1918.
The compelling story of a young girl born to privilege, but cast out into a post-revolutionary world proves an extraordinarily gripping tale.
