Naturally Canadian II photography exhibit opens Sept. 1

Focus on Nature is pleased to announce the opening of Naturally Canadian II, a second photography exhibit celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary.

Featuring works by 52 young photographers who have participated in Focus on Nature camps and school workshops, the exhibit honours Canada’s natural heritage as seen through the eyes of young people in their neighbourhoods.

Selected from tens of thousands of photos taken by students over the past 12 months, these 52 were chosen by Focus on Nature volunteer judges as having special merit.

There will be a special private reception for the young photographers, their families and teachers as well as the exhibit sponsors at 42 Carden Street, Guelph from 4 to 7pm on Sept. 7.

“Young people see the world differently than adults and these remarkable images capture their fascination with the natural world in interesting and delightful ways. This exhibit reveals the importance of a healthy child-nature connection. I hope these photos will inspire people of all ages to spend more time outdoors discovering the wonders of the natural world around them,” said Simon Bell, executive director of Focus on Nature.

The exhibit will take place at the 10C Welcome Area at 42 Carden Street in Guelph from Sept. 1 to 30. It is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Focus on Nature is a non-profit organization, based in Guelph that connects kids to nature through photography.
