Police will be visiting Rockwood homes this weekend, trying to gain information about a rash of local crimes and urging residents to lock their homes and vehicles.
Wellington County OPP officials will be canvassing residences on Aug. 12 about break-ins, vehicle entries and thefts in the village.
Police say there has been an increase recently in thefts from vehicles in Rockwood, notably overnight on July 23 and Aug. 7.
“Members of the OPP Auxiliary Unit will also be educating the public of the ‘Lock It or Lose It’ and Crime Stoppers programs,” police stated in a press release.
The Lock It or Lose It campaign reminds residents to lock vehicles and to remove valuables and keys from vehicles. “This helps reduce the motivation and likely hood of these types of property crimes,” police stated.
